Classes are intense, open to all levels for a internal transformation for a more peaceful and satisfactory life. Dharma Yoga is a system of classical Hatha-Raja Yoga, based on the teachings of Sri Dharma Mittra. A devotional practice that emphasizes good health, a clear mind and a kind heart. The science of Yoga
Proper excercise
The asanas, are postures designed for bringing radiant health and well being. While practicing yoga your internal organs are massaged, and your glands get pressed stimulating your immune system. The asanas are not only designed to develop the body; they also broaden the mental faculties and the spiritual capacities. Your body is as young as your spine is. As my teacher, Dharma Mittra, says: “You can be young with a stiff spine, you will feel old; you can be old with a flexible spine than you will feel young” The impurities get stacked in your spine stiffening it, thanks to the yoga postures they get released
Proper breathing
Most people use only a fraction of their lungs. Babies are the only ones that know how to breathe. As we get older we loose that essential ability, which makes us tired and ill. Shallow breathe means agitated mind, deep breathe is synonymous with a peaceful mind. Yoga has many exercises to help you to get back to that perfect breathing you had when you were born and to be as radiant, healthy and vital as newborns
Proper relaxation
When the body and mind are constantly overworked, their natural efficiency diminishes. Modern life make it difficult to relax. Relaxation is the body’s natural way of recharging. You can waste a lot of energy with your negative emotions, holding you back. Yoga teaches you how torelax and let go. This will economize your energy
Proper diet
The yogic diet is a vegetarian one. There are many studies that have proven the positive effects of vegetarian diet on your health. I recommend that you to check out a book called The China Study written by T. Collin Campbell, a phD of Medicine. Yoga is also concerned with the impact of the food on your mind, sweets and spices will create agitation, while vegetables and fruits will create a more peaceful state. The yogic diet will help you to obtain a high standard of health, keen intellect and serenity of mind
Positive thinking and meditation
When the surface of the lake is still, the bottom can be clearly seen. This is impossible when the surface is agitated by waves. In the same way, when the mind is still , then you can see the “Self”, this state of calm is called “Yoga”, union. Yoga helps to control the mind by concentration. With the yoga practice you will change your mental habits into more peaceful ones, at that time worries and problems of the world disappear. Through concentration on the Self, inwardly, we can meditate and discover that infinite well of wisdom that lies within
